Course Description:

RATIONALE

The module builds upon the content delivered to the students in Introduction to Web Design, providing students with an advanced understanding of web design patterns, principles and front-end web technologies. Students will then use this knowledge to develop a front-end application.
The module complements the topics taught in the Mobile Development module and together they provide students with the solid foundations required for a career in the web industry.

AIMS

The aims of the module are:

  • To provide students with an understanding of the importance of design principles and theories.
  • To provide students with the knowledge and understanding of common prototyping methods.
  • To provide students with the knowledge to use front-end web technologies to develop interactive and accessible web applications.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of this module, a student will be able to:

  1. Select appropriate design prototyping methods and apply them during the planning phase of real-world web-based scenarios
  2. Develop a live website using a range of front-end web technologies
  3. Consider and apply different web accessibility methods to improve the user experience
