Course Description:

RATIONALE

This module provides an opportunity to explore in greater depth several areas of artificial intelligence and data science. This will include an understanding of the domain theory, typical problems faced in the domain and how these might be solved.

AIMS

Through the completion of this module students will:

  • Gain comprehensive knowledge and understanding of several artificial intelligence and data science domains in terms of their theory and typical problems
  • Gain comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the current state-of-the-practice and state-of-the-art approaches to solving problems in these domains
  • Be able to design and implement a solution to a problem set in one or more of these domain areas

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of this module, a student will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of specialist artificial intelligence and data science domains
  2. Combine theory, research and practice to design and develop robust solutions to a particular scenario in one or more of these domains. 
  3. Implement a robust solution and evaluate its effectiveness and limitations in addressing the particular scenario.
